What to Do With Your HVAC System This Summer

Okay, okay, it’s not quite summer just yet. This is Alaska, after all. But it will eventually start to warm up, and when that time comes, you’ll be able to shut down your HVAC system for the first time in months. Every year, without fail, it’s a weird but welcome feeling.

So what should you do with your HVAC system this summer?

Here’s something we’ve observed over 35 years of serving customers in the Mat-Su Valley: if your HVAC system is getting old, or it’s been a while between services, you can almost bet that when it eventually fails, it will happen on the coldest day of the year. Not only is it uncomfortable for you and your family, but it risks other problems, like bursting pipes.

The summer months, when your system isn’t working full-time, is the perfect opportunity to upgrade or maintain your furnace and boiler to make sure they don’t get to that point.

New Furnace in the Mat-Su Valley

First, let’s talk about furnaces. We are proud to be a Lennox Premier Dealer, recommending Lennox forced air furnaces to families in the Mat-Su Valley. According to Good Housekeeping, they are the quietest and most efficient furnaces on the market. We have a few different options available:

  1. Dave Lennox Signature Collection SLP98V Variable-Capacity Gas Furnace. It runs at 98% annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE), which can significantly reduce your heating costs.
  2. Elite Series EL296V High-Efficiency, Two-Stage Gas Furnace. This furnace uses a variable speed motor to reduce electrical use by two thirds, and the two stages of heating minimize temperature swings. It runs at 96% AFUE.
  3. Merit Series ML195 Gas Furnace. This offers the ideal combination of energy efficiency and affordability, running at 95% AFUE, which will help you control your utility bills.

When it comes to installation, we guarantee professional service, post-inspection and training so you know how to get the most out of your new furnace and our exclusive furnace installation warranty. If you’re ready to enjoy a more comfortable home environment, give us a call today.

Furnace Repair

When we tell you we’ve seen everything, we mean it. Are you hearing strange noises? Is it not heating as well as it should? Is it consuming more fuel than normal and driving up your utility bills? Is it more than 15 years old? How about the flame – is it yellow instead of blue?

(Here’s a fun fact: the number one reason heating systems fail is actually dirt. It actually causes 90% of all HVAC system breakdowns and it also stops your system from running at peak efficiency.)

No matter the problem, we can solve it. Our technicians are NATE-certified, which is the only nationally recognized testing and certification program in the HVAC industry.

If your furnace hasn’t been running quite like it should, give us a call this summer and we’ll fix it while it’s at the top of your mind. There’s nothing worse than having a furnace malfunction and shut down on the first few cold nights of the next winter!

Furnace Filters

Air filters are the best way to make sure the air your family breathes is clean and free from pollutants. They can remove things like mold, fungi, pollen, plant fibers, fiberglass, chemical vapors, pet dander and dust mites from the air to improve your indoor air quality.

We recommend the Lennox PureAir Air Purifier, which produces hospital-grade filtration and uses a UVA light technology to trap contaminants. We’re happy to answer all of your questions.

Smart Thermostats

While we’re here, why not bring the rest of your technology into the 21st century?

We can also install an iComfort S30 Ultra-Smart Thermostat, which is the ultimate in programmable thermostats. It offers remote control and active monitoring to help you save money. For example, there is a Smart Away mode that can detect whether you’re at home or not and adjust the temperature accordingly, or a Feels Like mode that assesses factors like humidity to create the temperature you actually want to feel. It works with Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant.

New Weil-McLain Boilers in Wasilla

Weil-McLain have been in the boiler business since 1881. Needless to say, an awful lot has changed over that time. If you have a clunky old boiler that’s giving you trouble, you’re renovating, you’d like to save space or you want to save on your utility bills, summer is the time to take action.

This brand is the only type of boiler with the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. This offers a limited warranty, which is another layer of protection for you, because if your boiler is not functioning up to the manufacturer’s standard, they will reimburse you for the replacement.

Ready to enjoy a more comfortable home environment? Have questions about your current boiler? Summer is the best time to install a new system. Schedule your appointment today.
